TRAVIS IMEL EARNS ROBERT BERCAW SCHOLARSHIP
Travis Imel, a graduate of
Madison Consolidated High School, Madison, Indiana,
and Southeastern Career Center (SCC) in Versailles,
Indiana, is the 2008 recipient of the
Robert Bercaw
Scholarship at Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology in Troy, Ohio.
During an
Introduction to Technology class his sophomore year,
Travis had the opportunity to weld and made the
decision to follow the welding career path at SCC
throughout his junior and senior years of high
school.
“Welding became not only something that I wanted to
pursue as a career,” says Travis, “but also as a
hobby.
It is a passion of mine.”
While maintaining grades to
earn designation on the Technical Honor Society in
high school, Travis has been active in FFA on the
local and state levels, working as a Section IV
director in the Indiana FFA organization.
He was also involved in 4-H and serves as a
volunteer firefighter with the Milton Township Fire
Dept. as well as being employed at Tractor Supply
Company.
“At this point,” says Travis,
“I’m hoping that my time spent at Hobart will help
me decide exactly what career I want to follow.
As of right now, I believe that I want to
follow the career of an instructor.”
Travis, the son of Kim and
Vivian Imel, is enrolled in the
Combination
Structural and Pipe Welding Program at the
Hobart Institute of Welding Technology.
